Established in 2007, the institution began as Rukwa Teachers College with a mission of addressing the shortage of qualified teachers in Tanzania. Over the years, the institution expanded its academic scope to meet the growing demand for technical and professional education, leading to its transformation into Rukwa Institute of Business Management.

Today, RIBM offers a wide range of programmes in Agriculture Production, Community Development, Vocational Education and Training (VET), and other professional courses designed to equip learners with knowledge, competencies, and practical skills required in the modern labour market.
