RIBM DEVELOPMENT PLAN 2026 – 2030

Building the Future Through Education, Innovation and Sustainable Investment

Rukwa Institute of Business Management (RIBM) envisions becoming one of Tanzania’s leading institutions in education, business development, agriculture, healthcare, financial services, and technological innovation. Through its Development Plan 2026–2030, the institution seeks to expand its impact beyond education by creating integrated solutions that contribute to economic growth, employment creation, and community transformation.

1. Establishment of Rukwa University
One of the institution's major strategic goals is the establishment of Rukwa University, a fully-fledged university dedicated to producing highly skilled professionals, researchers, innovators, and leaders capable of driving sustainable development in Tanzania and beyond.
The proposed university will offer programmes in Education, Agriculture, Business, Health Sciences, Information Technology, Engineering, Community Development, and Applied Sciences while promoting research and innovation that address local and national challenges.

2. Agricultural Investment and Agribusiness Development
Recognizing agriculture as the backbone of Tanzania’s economy, RIBM plans to establish a comprehensive agribusiness company specializing in:
i. Supply of quality seeds
ii. Distribution of fertilizers
iii. Agricultural chemicals and crop protection products
iv. Farm machinery and tractor sales
v. Agricultural consultancy and extension services
vi. Modern farming technologies and mechanization
The company will support farmers in improving productivity, increasing food security, and enhancing household incomes across the country.

3. Large-Scale Commercial Farming
RIBM intends to invest in large-scale commercial agriculture by developing modern farms for the production of:
i. Rice
ii. Maize
iii. Beans
iv. Sunflower
The project aims to increase agricultural production, create employment opportunities, support agro-processing industries, and contribute to national food security.

4. Livestock Production, Animal Fattening and Veterinary Services
In line with Tanzania’s growing livestock industry, RIBM plans to establish a modern livestock development enterprise focusing on sustainable animal production, commercial fattening, veterinary services, and livestock value chain development.
The project will include:
i. Commercial cattle fattening programmes
ii. Goat and sheep production and fattening
iii. Poultry farming and hatchery services
iv. Dairy production and livestock breeding programmes
v. Animal feeds production and distribution
vi. Veterinary drugs and animal health products supply
vii. Mobile veterinary outreach services
viii. Livestock health management and disease control
ix. Artificial insemination and breeding improvement services
x. Livestock extension and farmer training programmes

The initiative aims to improve livestock productivity, strengthen animal health systems, enhance food security, increase household incomes, and create employment opportunities for livestock professionals, veterinary practitioners, and local communities.

Through the integration of modern technologies, scientific livestock management practices, and veterinary innovations, RIBM seeks to become a regional centre of excellence in livestock production and animal health services while contributing significantly to Tanzania’s agricultural and livestock transformation agenda.

5. Establishment of a Microfinance Institution
To promote financial inclusion and entrepreneurship, RIBM plans to establish a regulated microfinance institution that will provide:
i. Small business loans
ii. Agricultural financing
iii. Educational loans
iv. Women and youth empowerment financing
v. investment products
vi. Agents Services
The institution will focus on empowering individuals, small businesses, farmers, and community groups by improving access to affordable financial services.

6. Electrical Engineering and Energy Services Company
As part of its industrial development agenda, RIBM plans to establish an electrical engineering and energy services company that will provide:
i. Electrical installation services
ii. Industrial and domestic wiring solutions
iii. Solar energy systems
iv. Electrical maintenance services
v. Supply of electrical equipment and accessories
vi. Technical training and consultancy
this initiative will contribute to the expansion of energy access while creating employment opportunities for skilled technicians and engineers.

7. Establishment of a Modern Referral Hospital
By 2030, RIBM aims to establish a modern healthcare facility in Makutano Area, Sumbawanga, designed to provide high-quality healthcare services to the people of Rukwa Region and neighboring areas.
The hospital is expected to offer:
i. Specialized medical services
ii. Maternal and child healthcare
iii. Diagnostic and laboratory services
iv. Emergency and surgical care
v. Medical training and research opportunities
The project will strengthen healthcare delivery while supporting national efforts to improve public health outcomes.
